Utilizing all mediums of art to explore the philosophies of Allies In Action students use to make a direct impact on their culture and climate.

When

Three day camp will run Mondays – Thursdays
9am to 1pm on the following dates:
June 26th – 29th
July 10th – 13th
July 17th – 20th

Who

Allies in Action Summer Camps are suitable for children entering grades 1st through 6th.

Open to the public and attendees do not have to be Geiger students.

Meeting in the daVinci Room.
Access through the side door on the playground.

How Much

$150 per child, per session. Each additional sibling is $75, per session. This covers the cost of art supplies, administrative fees, and a provided healthy snack each day. (Please plan to pack a lunch.)

Complete Allies In Action Summer Camp Details

Allies In Action is powerful program and preventative, grassroots approach to harassment, intimidation, and bullying in Tacoma Public Schools developed by Lisa J. Keating. This program utilizes all mediums of art to explore the philosophies of Allies In Action. Participating students make a direct impact on their culture and climate. Team building activities and art projects are tools used to increase self-awareness and self-reflection, impact of behavior, conflict resolution and learn skills to take action.

Art mediums used include painting, drawing, skits, video and poetry. With a focus on both individual and group collaborative projects, students will create various pieces including outdoor weaving, partner portraits, and still life drawings/paintings. Additionally, students will be exposed to various art history lessons will the philosophies of the Allies in Action program that are weaved throughout the program with group discussions. Students are lead through a series of Q&A before each exercise and activity.
